this is a quick analysis into WHY Pocahontas (the Disney film) is a racist piece of trash. please, Asscreed fandom, do yourself a big favor and READ UP on the period that the new Assassin’s Creed game is going to be set.
this is American history, and this is important stuff. extreme ethnocentric views still pervade our culture, and because we have been ingrained with the idea of “Indians” being red-faced, feather headdress wearing savages, we dont apparently consider marginalizing a Native American character all that bad. think about it. this is the equivalent of taking an African character and comparing him or her to this:
are you guys beginning to figure it out now? if someone compared an African-American character to Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarfs, people would get mad offended because its RACIST. just because our culture is infused with this sort of stuff doesnt mean that you personally have to cater to marginalizing a group of peoples into something like Pocahontas. please dont let me down, fandom. read up about native american culture (i believe that press releases say that Connor belongs to the Mohawk tribe, so even more specific!) and if you feel like you just have to draw him, do your research about culture, clothing, and practices. portray him in a way that is true to his heritage. dont shove him into a feather headress and call him Pocahontas, alright? just…. dont.
I’m just going to reblog only this post about this subject. I’ve been watching this drama unfold from afar for a while now, and there is something I’d like to say:
A lot of the reactions against Connor being nicknamed Pocahontas as far as I’ve seen have been people saying things along the lines of “GOD YOU ARE A RACIST <insert swearword here> EDUCATE YOURSELF YOU <insert swearword here> I WILL UNFOLLOW YOU YOU <insert swearword here> AND ALL THOSE MEAN THINGS I WILL <insert internet death threats here> YOU ARE SUCH A <insert swearword here, repeating, of course>”.
And to be perfectly honest I’ve personally found it really irritating because shouting people down on the internet is really not the way to go around this sort of thing.
I can see where people’s anger is coming from but this is not the way. If you want people to agree with you and actually make an argument this is how you should do it. Present your argument, tell people why it’s wrong, and kindly ask them to stop.
Instead of, you know, fighting fire with fire.

Thank you so very much, thank you :’)
OMG enough with this. There was absolutely no intention of offend anyone with that joke. In fact, there was NO COMPARISON between the two, Pocahontas and Connor. It was only a joke about Connor’s “real” name because it’s hard to pronounce. Come on. This drama is going too far now.
^ I agree with enrychan. This is ridiculous, people.
