A comic about bullying that made me cry in the office this morning…
if you’ve not already read it, you should.
im going to throw this little asshole under the fucking train
man I really should read saint oniisan again
maybe I should read it from the beginning, because I can’t remember where I was in the manga when I stopped
I remember liking it very much, though

I love the way Oda draws people crying. Because so often in anime, comics and animation in general when someone cries it’s these delicate little tears, with their itty bitty mouths pouting slightly, a ittle blush on their face and all in all they look pretty while they cry.
That is bullshit. If you are hurt/sad enough to be crying you are experiencing some powerful emotions, when was the last time you felt composed whilst sobbing?
When you cry your face turns red/purple all over or gets splochy, your breathing gets erratic so you leave your mouth gaping most of the time, your lips quiver, your face scrunches up, you shake, and guess what you nose runs. A LOT. Crying isn’t supposed to be beautiful, it’s supposed to be awful, it’s supposed to be powerful and emotional just as it is in real life.
When I see one of Oda’s characters crying it hits home, you feel their anguish, their sorrow because it is drawn so powerfully across their face.
“SAKURABA! There’s something wrong with the camera!”
“This is one strange map.”
So I got an iPhone app called “manga camera” and I’m laughing way too hard at my milkshake pictures
That’s fucking rad.
